Welcome to flour and blooms homestead.
Where I will share all the things I am passionate about. Which include real food recipes, gardening, homestead life, and from scratch projects and recipes.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Season. My family which includes my Husband Shane and two children Javier (16) and Scarlett (21) live on our dream property of 50 acres in North Dakota. We have currently lived here for 10 years which is the longest we have ever lived in one place. During the course of our marriage we have moved 12 times! To say we are adventurous is an understatement.
I grew up in Maryland on the East Coast. Going to the beach in the summer and the mountains snowmobiling in the winter. I’ve always been a farm girl at heart. We lived in the country and thanks to my parents they let me live out my farm girl dreams. We had cows, horses, sheep and pigs. As a teen I was involved in 4-h and showed my sheep and pigs. I have one older sister who I love to hang out with.
I am a lover of whole real food especially if I have grown and raised it. Cooking and baking are my passion. My idea of therapy is either getting in my kitchen and cooking or digging in my garden.

I am an RN by trade, but a naturalist by choice. I have cabinets full of homeopathic medicines and drawers full of essential oils. I am a huge advocate of healing yourself and your family through diet, exercise, homeopathics, nature, and meditation. I do realize the importance of modern medicine but I also know that healing yourself is possible too in so many situations.

Animals on the Homestead
Chickens were our very first farm animal. We continue to either buy or hatch out new chicks every year. Chickens still remain one of my favorite farm animals. Our first introduction to Milk Cows was Sally, she has been with us for about 9 years. She is a holstein cow and taught us everything know about milking. She has had multiple calfs since owning her and once she had twin heifers. Sally is retired as of now and living the good life eating all the grass she wants.
Last year I bought a young Jersey cow whose name is Ginger. She was in milk when we first purchased her and had the BEST tasting milk we have ever had! When they talk about Jersey’s having a lot of cream they are not kidding! As of now we are hoping she is pregnant and due around March. We also have Sally’s bull calf here too which we are intending to breed Ginger back to after she calves in March. I can’t leave out Jetta our horse who is such a pet. Not to mention our cats and 2 cattle dogs Pip and Pepper.

Our Homestead
We have literally built our homestead from the ground up. By we I really mean my husband Shane. He is a builder by trade which is why we have been able to do what we have done. We moved here to raw land with nothing on it but prairie grass. We lived in our Motorhome with 2 young kids for 4 months till we were forced to get out and move into our unfinished basement due to the dropping temperature and snow. We are in the process of building a 4800 sq. ft. barn that will include a milking parlor, 5 stalls, a shop, and my studio, store, shop not sure what to call it. A place for me to craft, cook, create, teach, entertain and sleep if need be.
Oh and I almost forgot my husband is also building a huge run in shed/chicken house combo that will hopefully be completed before this winter for the cows and horses to get out of the winter weather. In case you haven’t noticed we have lots of projects going on at once.

Fun facts about me
In high school I dreamed of marrying Shane ( my husband) and living in Montana one day. (I got pretty close)
I did not attend college till I was 33 years old.
I love 90’s rap music. Along with a lot of other music genres too.
When I graduated high school I went out west and worked on a Dude Ranch.
